Who can upload clothes to Roblox: ID verification and parent accounts

Guide · Checked

You do not need a paid subscription to upload a design. You do need a verified account. Here is how that works, in plain words.

The rule

Roblox's marketplace policy says that to upload, publish and keep items on sale, users and groups need government ID verification or a linked parental account. This has applied to 2D and 3D items alike since 14 July 2026.

That gives two ways in:

  1. ID verification. The account holder verifies with their own government ID.
  2. A linked parent account. A parent or guardian links their own account to the child's, and the parent's account is the one that is ID verified. Roblox describes this as an alternative path for eligible creators who do not use standard ID verification.

What this means if you are under 13

Roblox sets the age rules, and they are strict for younger players. In practice a younger player usually cannot verify with an ID, so the parent link is the route. Without a linked parent account, uploading is probably not available to you.

If that is you, ask a parent or guardian to help set up the link in Roblox's own settings. We cannot do it for you and we never ask for anyone's login.

The linked parent route is also new enough to have rough edges. Players have posted on the Roblox developer forum about trouble publishing with a parent account. If you hit an error, Roblox support is the place to ask.

Selling asks for more

Uploading only needs the verification above and the 80 Robux fee. Selling adds two more requirements: 2-step verification and an active Roblox Plus or Premium subscription. The next article covers those.

What you can still do without any of this

Plenty. You can design in the app, save the PNG, look at it on the 3D mannequin, and make a short video of it to share. None of that needs a Roblox account at all. The app itself never asks for a Roblox login, a password, or your age beyond a simple year of birth to set safe defaults.

Checking where you stand

Before you spend any Robux:

Source and date

Based on Roblox's Marketplace policy and fees documentation and the DevForum announcement of 7 July 2026, revised 13 July 2026, all checked on 16 October 2026. Rules can change, and Roblox has the final word.

This app is not made by or connected to Roblox.
