Sell clothes inside your own Roblox game and keep 70%
Guide · Checked
This article is for people who already make Roblox games. If you do not, skip it: the Marketplace route in the other articles is the one for you.
Why the split is different in a game
Since 14 July 2026, Roblox splits an avatar item sale this way:
- Bought on the Marketplace: the creator gets 30%, Roblox keeps 70%.
- Bought inside an experience: the creator gets 30%, the game owner gets 40%, Roblox keeps 30%.
The game owner share exists to pay for distribution and discovery. A Roblox staff reply on 7 July 2026 spelled out the consequence: if you sell your own clothing inside your own game, you fill both roles and earn both shares, 70% in total.
That is the headline: the same shirt can pay you more than twice as much when the sale happens in your own game than on the Marketplace, at the base share.
What you still pay and need
The 70% only changes the split. The requirements stay the same:
- ID verification or a linked parent account.
- 80 Robux to upload the item.
- To publish it for sale: 2-step verification, an active Plus or Premium subscription, and a 10 Robux publishing advance for 2D items.
Roblox's progressive share, where a higher price lifts your cut, applies to Marketplace purchases only. In-game purchases use the base split.
What this means for a design made here
You can design a shirt in this app, save the PNG, upload it on Roblox's creator site, and then offer it inside a game you own. The app does not build the game or the shop for you. That part happens in Roblox Studio and in Roblox's tools.
Players also need a reason to be in your game. A design on its own does not bring visitors, so a plan for how people will find the game matters more than the clothing.
A caution about the numbers
Revenue shares are percentages of the price in Robux. Robux earnings can be converted to cash only through Roblox's developer exchange, which has its own rules: you must be 13 or older, and Roblox requires a minimum of 30,000 earned Robux. Check Roblox's pages for the current rate and rules before you plan around it.
